About Old Town (Cidade Velha)

The Old Town, or Cidade Velha, is Albufeira's whitewashed historic heart, a warren of cobbled lanes tumbling down to Praia dos Pescadores. Bars, restaurants, craft shops and the famous tunnel to the beach make it the most visited and rentable corner of the resort, busy from spring through autumn and lively even in winter. Apartments and townhouses here command roughly EUR 4,000-5,200 per m2, a premium to the wider municipality, justified by the highest rental demand in Albufeira. Gross yields of 5.0-6.0% are achievable on short-lets where AL licences are held, though licensing has tightened in this saturated centre. For investors chasing occupancy and footfall, the Old Town is the region's most dependable holiday-let location.
